Tempe mayor: GoDaddy’s plans further city’s tech rep

Tempe continued to boost its profile as a technology hub with the recent announcement that Web host GoDaddy is expanding in the city, with a technology and customer-service center at Arizona State University Research Park.

“It’s definitely a next step,” Mayor Mark Mitchell said Thursday. “Twenty percent of the jobs in Tempe are tech-related. We have the highest concentration of tech-based jobs in the Valley in Tempe.”

The expansion was announced last week at the research park, near Elliot and Price roads, where Mitchell, flanked by GoDaddy CEO Blake Irving and Gov. Jan Brewer, touted the jobs that will be created when the office is complete.

Construction on the GoDaddy Global Technology center is under way and is expected to take about a year.

The company will be moving an estimated 1,000 employees from an office near Kyrene and Elliot roads to the new $27 million, 150,000-square-foot facility at the ASU park.

GoDaddy anticipates adding 300 jobs in the expansion. The site will include engineers, Web developers and customer-care employees.

As Southeast Valley leaders look to revamp the region’s branding, the opportunity to spotlight the growing technology industry in Tempe and Chandler as part of that is expected to draw businesses and residents seeking well-paying jobs, Mitchell said.

“We’re stoked to be able to break ground in Tempe,” Irving said at the news conference. “We’re going to establish offices where the talent is. Moving to Tempe is an acknowledgment that there’s a great talent base at Arizona State, that the investment made at this research park is going to help us hire great, smart, well-educated students to help fuel technology for us for decades.”

Mitchell said that Tempe aims to add more tech businesses along the Price Road corridor.

“They are dubbing the Price Road Corridor as the technology corridor between Tempe and Chandler because of all the types of technology businesses we have there,” Mitchell said. “We have the DiscoveryBusiness Campus, we have the ASU Research Park, and further down we have the Intel plant. It’s part of the fruition of attracting well-paying jobs and companies to our city.”

The state estimates that GoDaddy’s new facility will have about $42 million in economic impact on the area, said Sandra Watson, president and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority.

It is eligible for $1.5 million from the Arizona Competes Fund, a pool intended to lure business development, Watson said. The company also can claim new-employee tax credits worth as much as $9,000 each over three years and job-training grants worth as much as $5,000 for each eligible worker.

Walter Unger CCIM, CCSS, CCLS

I am a successful Commercial Investment Real Estate Broker in Arizona now for 15 years and I worked with banks and their commercial REO properties for 3 years. I am also a commercial and  Landspecialist in Phoenix and a Landspecialist in Arizona.

1.

WHETHER YOU LEASE OR OWN

NOW IS THE TIME FOR YOU TO EXPAND, UPGRADE OR INVEST.

In my opinion we are at bottom of the cycle in Commercial Real Estate in Phoenix, so there is only one way and it’s called we are going up again and now is the time for you to expand, upgrade or invest in Commercial Properties in Phoenix.  The prices on deals I may get you will not be around forever.

2.

IF YOU OR ANYBODY YOU KNOW IS IN TROUBLE WITH YOUR BUSINESS, AS MANY AMERICANS ARE IN THE MOMENT, AND ARE ABOUT TO LOSE YOUR COMMERCIAL PROPERTY, PLEASE CONTACT ME.  IF YOUR BANK IS BEHAVING BADLY I MAY BE ABLE TO HELP YOU GET OUT OF SOME OR MAYBE A LOT OF FUTURE HEADACHES.

3.

WAITING TO SELL YOUR LAND ? TIMES CHANGE / IT’S TIME

We barely could give land away the last few years, but times are changing.  Even in those meager years, I sold more land across the state than most other brokers. Before the real estate crash I was a land specialist in Arizona with millions of dollars of transactions, but then I had to change and also sell other commercial investment properties, which was fun, but I am a Commercial Landspecialist in Arizonal, a Commercial Land Specialist in Phoenix and love to sell land, one acre to thousands of acres.

Since I was a Land Specialist in Arizona and a Land Speciaost in Phoenix many of my clients, Sellers and Buyers remember me and now they are calling me again, so this is the time to get back into land and none of my clients, including future clients, will miss out on getting their best deal.

Also, if you are up-side down on your land, like many Americans, and the lender is giving you a hard time, now is the time to put your land on the market. Lenders are making deals now with short sales.  I have been working with banks for many years – I learned how to work with them.

If you have any questions about the 1 to  3 above, about Commercial Investment Properties in Phoenix or Commercial Investment Properties in Arizona,  I will gladly sit down with you and share my expertise and my professional opinion in Commercial Properties in Phoenix or Commercial Properties in Arizona with you.Obviously I am also in this to make money, but it could be a win-win situation for all of us.
