What is passion? What does it mean to be passionate? You hear the term thrown about all the time. People say that a life without passion is a life not worth living — and truth be told, that’s exactly it. Passion is emotion taken from the confines of your mind and used to alter the physical reality that you live in.
Passion is the combination of strong emotion and action. It’s not enough to simply feel passionate about something — you must act on those feelings in order for true passion to manifest. There are few companies out there these days that truly put passion to good use.
It’s almost impossible to compete with passion because passion doesn’t allow for slacking — it moves you to life. It’s no surprise that companies like Bacardi have grown into the behemoths they are today. Passion doesn’t just go a long way… it is the way. And these are the 10 steps necessary to live passionately:
1. Passion starts from within. Know yourself and then you can find your passion.
Passion is not something learned, but something uncovered. The more that we get to know ourselves the more that we learn what is important to us in life. Being passionate is not about being something or someone that you are not — it’s about being the truest, purest form of yourself that you can be.
2. Do it for yourself.
Too often we do things because we feel that we are supposed to do them. Life isn’t a rat race. There is no trophy or pot of gold at the end of the track. Life itself is the treasure that we are searching for. Being passionate is doing what you love because it makes you feel good, because it feels right.
3. Allow your passion to open your eyes to the world.
Passion is not the end of the road; it is only the beginning. Once you find your passion, your priorities begin to fall into place. You begin to see the world differently, with a more open mind and better understanding. You start to understand the role that you play and how you best interact with everything and everyone else in your life.
4. Meet others with a shared passion.
Passion may start from within, but for it to fully manifest, it must flow into all aspects of your life — especially your social life. Not only will finding others with similar passions make your life fuller and more enjoyable, it will allow you to further develop as an individual.
5. With time comes mastery.
Keeping passion personal is not the way to go. In order for your passion to truly mean something it needs to flow through you and out into the world. It is easy to say that passion requires mastery… but that’s not exactly true. When you are honestly passionate, mastery is inevitable.
6. Identify yourself with your passion.
In time, passion turns to obsession, allowing you, in turn, to transform into a newer version of you. You will no longer need to keep the flame burning because your life becomes engulfed by it. You will become your passion; you become the flame that keeps on burning.
7. Do.
Passion can only fuse with you fully when your inner thoughts match your outward actions. By doing, you not only confirm with the outside world the person you have become — you begin to take your passion to new levels, affecting not only your individual life, but also the world around you.
8. Understand that failing is learning.
With all passion comes hardship. When you begin to identify yourself with your passions, it can be difficult not to take failure personally. Failure isn’t just a possible outcome; it’s a guaranteed outcome. You cannot win if you never lost.
9. Use your passion to change the world.
Passions are meant to be shared. They are meant to be implemented into physical reality and used to make changes, to make a difference in the world. Your passion is how you leave your mark in life. It’s how you become remembered. It’s how you become a legend.
10. There are no limits and therefore never a final step.
Passion is a way of life. It’s not something that you aim at finishing because it has no finish line. Being passionate is the ultimate way of living your life. It guarantees strong emotions, hardship, pleasure, memorable encounters and unforgettable events. A life with passion is a life best lived. A life without passion isn’t much of a life at all.
