By Hayley Ringle – Reporter, Phoenix Business Journal Sep 20, 2018,
Scottsdale-based international call center company Valor Global Services Inc. has expanded into its fourth metro Phoenix office and plans to double its staff by hiring more than 1,000 people over the next year.
Valor Global moved into its new 30,000-square-foot office off Interstate 17 and Thunderbird Road Aug. 10. The office has 100 employees now but plans to have up to 600 people working in three shifts, said Simer Mayo, CEO and founder of Valor Global.
Valor is investing $3 million in the office and a fifth office it plans to finalize by November in Phoenix, Mayo said.
“We’re not a traditional call center,” he said. “We’re making it more of a young, millennial style with a honeycomb, contemporary setup.”
The growth comes from new customers, which include several international brands and a major online streaming provider. Customers have non-disclosure agreements because Valor Global operates under the companies names, Mayo said.
“Our brand is really growing nationally,” he said. “We’re the top one or two performers for our customers. We still don’t have a sales team so we gain new customers from existing partner referrals.”
Valor represents a continued trend in tech employment for the region. Phoenix experienced 188 percent job growth in tech industry jobs from 2015 to 2016, according to ZipRecruiter.
The Phoenix metro area moved up two spots on CBRE’s sixth-annual Scoring Tech Talent report thanks to the Valley being a net exporter of talent and massive growth in the tech sector.
Phoenix is one of the major markets for call centers in the country because of the mix of talent, weather and cost of living.
Valor Global plans to hire more than 100 employees each month for the next 12 months to keep up with growth. Open positions include customer care and tech support for call centers, with bilingual Spanish-speaking employees especially needed. Call center supervisors and managers also are needed, he said.
Salaries range from $26,000 to $35,000 for customer care, while supervisors and managers can make between $40,000 to $100,000-plus.
The 1,175-employee company has 250 employees in the Phoenix metro area and 925 employees at its Philippines and Costa Rica offices. Valor Global provides 24/7 support with bilingual Spanish support.
Valor Global prides itself on its low employee turnover, unique culture and community support.
“Culture is a big thing for us,” he said. “Our programs include a dream manager which helps people achieve their dreams. We want our employees to move from survivability to thrivability, so we put a lot of money, time and effort into that.”
In 2017, Valor Global hired 120 employees after seeing growth with new tech partnerships.
