The new Veterans Administration bill signed into law Aug. 7 includes a $20M allocation for a new health care clinic in Phoenix with a 120K patient/year capacity. Planning for the facility is to begin immediately with a targeted 2019 opening.
The new facility is intended to provide additional primary care and specialty care services or the region’s veterans. The new facility will deliver personalized health care services and allow for expansion of services on the main hospital campus, 7thStreet and Indian School Road.
Chief of Staff Dr. Darren Deering said that services at the new location will include primary care, mental health, audiology, eye, physical therapy and ambulatory surgery services. The health care center will also provide a full complement of laboratory, pharmacy, prosthetics and radiology services with CT and MRI capability.
The VA anticipates that the clinic will incorporate the most up-to-date medical care delivery systems and equipment. Neither an architect nor GC has been selected.
The recent 20KSF mental health facility and 60KSF outpatient clinic in Gilbert were delivered on a develop-design-build contract with McShane Development.
McShane later sold the project to Dallas-based Fairway Equities (AZBEX, Apr. 29).
