Publicly traded Kudelski Group (SIX:KUD:S), a leading European Union cybersecurity technology company, announced today that it is complementing its Swiss location with a corporate headquarters moving from Switzerland to Phoenix this year. This deal, which has been developing for over two years, was a city-state cooperative effort, and has political and economic development leaders brimming with excitement, according to a source speaking on background ahead of the formal announcement.

The company, on its website, calls it a “complementary headquarters,” and said it’s keeping a headquarters in Switzerland, but sources say they are already working with high-level executives and support staff relocating to Phoenix. However, it said that beginning in 2017, it will report financial results in U.S. dollars rather than Swiss francs.

Kudelski leased 30,191 square feet at 5090 N. 40th St. Craig Coppola, principal with Lee & Associates brokered the deal.

The company is expected to hire around 130 people.

Kudeliski said its board of directors picked Phoenix to establish a strong U.S. foothold to showcase Swiss cybersecurity innovation and engineering. Technical teams will remain in Switzerland and work with the new Phoenix teams.

The company said “a number of employees will be invited to move to Phoenix. Internal transfers between the two sites will be favored, in order to preserve the company’s unique DNA.”
