A 223-unit multifamily development is planned for a 1.98-acre parcel on Central Avenue that recently sold for $5.15 million. The site is located on Central between Columbus and Weldon avenues. That site sits between two Metro light rail stations.
“Midtown Phoenix has transformed into an exciting live-work-play location, and this light-rail served site will thrive as a luxury high-density residential development,” Nicoluzakis said in a press release announcing the sale.
The joint venture buyer plans to build a luxury apartment community on the parcel. It will feature four stories of residential units and two levels of parking. Units will include studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments ranging from 600 square feet to 1,500 square feet. Rents are projected to run from $1,200 to $2,500.
EDIT International is designing the apartment. Construction is set to begin in the middle of the year with a planned opened near the end of 2019.
Midtown is one of several submarkets across greater Phoenix that has seen an injection of multifamily projects including apartments and condominiums over the past handful of years.
