Paradise Valley – Allred Capital LLLP in Colorado Springs, Co. (Ronald Allred, principal) paid $18.75 million ($535,714 per room) to purchase The Hermosa Inn, a 35-room boutique hotel in Paradise Valley. The acquisition included the popular Lon’s restaurant. The 6.5-acre property is located north of Stanford Drive and west of 36th Street at 5532 N. Palo Cristi Road. The sellers in two transactions were companies formed by Scottsdale-based real estate developer Fred Unger, who had owned The Hermosa Inn since 1992. The hacienda-style hotel, hidden away in a small cove in the shadows of Camelback Mountain, was built in the 1930’s by cowboy artist Lon Megargee. The property served as Megargee’s home and studio until it was later converted to The Hermosa Inn. Unger, who also renovated and sold the Royal Palms Inn at 5200 E. Camelback Road in Phoenix, said finding a proven buyer was essential for him to be able to sell The Hermosa Inn after owning it 23 years. Allred, who owns the Rancho Manana Golf Club in Cave Creek and the Tubac Golf Resort & Spa south of Tucson, is expected to expand The Hermosa Inn by adding another 15 rooms and some other amenities.
