Milestone Technologies, a company that provides help-desk support, data-center assistance and other tech-focused business services, has announced plans to hire up to 100 people over the next nine months at a new location in Phoenix.
The company is seeking network engineers, global-support technicians, technical recruiters, cognitive-solutions engineers, remote help-desk technicians and other positions.
“Our intent is to fill this place up with a lot of great jobs,” said Nelson Eng, Milestone’s president and CEO, without citing pay ranges for the new positions.
Gov. Doug Ducey attended a ceremony at Milestone’s new location near Sky Harbor International Airport, saying the expansion as a sign that “Arizona’s economy is booming,” claiming that there are more job openings overall than applicants available to fill them.
Ducey also cited low taxes, a talented workforce and a “common sense approach to regulation” as factors that help Arizona attract employers.
Milestone, headquartered in Fremont, California, employs more than 2,000 people globally and claims to have more than 200 corporate and other clients, though its website identifies few.
In explaining the expansion to Arizona, Eng said some Silicon Valley companies, such as Milestone, have been growing so quickly than they’re looking to recruit employees in other places.
Milestone also has applied for a grant from the Arizona Commerce Authority seeking reimbursement for up to $385,000 in workforce-training expenses.
At the Phoenix site, Milestone plans to establish an artificial intelligence and automation center.
