“You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take, and if you think it’s expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur “

Frontier Airlines is significantly expanding its service to and from San Antonio International Airport including a flight to Phoenix.
In addition to Phoenix, the carrier said on Tuesday it plans to launch new nonstop service from the Alamo City to five additional destinations — Cincinnati, New Orleans, Orlando, San Diego and San Jose.
Frontier plans to offer season flights in the spring to Cincinnati, Orlando and San Jose. Beginning in October, the airline will launch year-round service to the remaining destinations.
With the added destinations, Frontier will now offer flights to 11 markets from San Antonio International. That should send a signal to other carriers that there is more unmet demand in the nation’s seventh largest city.
“I believe today’s announcement by Frontier sends an important message we have known for some time: San Antonio is a vibrant, diverse and prosperous city and this new air service is a welcome improvement to our access to important destinations,” said Russ Handy, aviation director for the city of San Antonio. “Anytime a carrier adds capacity to a market such as San Antonio, it has the potential of capturing the attention of other carriers that may or may not serve the market.”
Frontier will begin selling tickets for New Orleans, Phoenix and San Diego flights immediately. Tickets for flights to the remaining new markets will go on sale in October.
Frontier launched its initial flights from San Antonio in May of last year to four markets. Handy said the added services is a sign that Frontier’s “confidence in the San Antonio region continues.”
Handy added that San Antonio’s Air Service Task Force will continue to work with the aviation department to pursue more carries and flights serving domestic and international passengers.
Denver-based Frontier, which is owned by Phoenix-based equity firm Indigo Partners LLC, filed for an initial public offering of stock this spring.
In that IPO filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Frontier reported 2016 profit of $200 million, up from $146 million in 2015 and $140 million in 2014.
It also claimed operating revenue of $1.714 billion last year, versus $1.604 billion in 2015 and $1.593 billion in 2014. It said it carried 14.9 million passengers last year.
