Seize the day, and put the least possible trust in tomorrow.

This just in from the “no kidding” desk: Scottsdale is a foodie’s paradise.
According to a new list from website Livability.com, Phoenix’s swanky suburb is a top city for foodies. Livability ranked Scottsdale as No. 2 on its Top 10 list of great cities for culinary connoisseurs.
Of course, to anyone from the Valley of the Sun – and I’d argue anyone who has spent any time in Scottsdale – this is not shocking news.
“Scottsdale has hundreds of mouth-watering restaurants, and with the addition of Food Truck Caravan and many events centered around food – this accolade is very fitting,” said Megan Doyle, spokeswoman with the Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau.
“This oasis of culinary delights continues to attract creative chefs who’ve led the city into a culinary renaissance,” Livability writes in its blurb about Scottsdale. “Visitors should be warned: Your taste buds won’t want you to leave.”
The site goes on to name-drop a number of well-known Scottsdale destinations including ShinBay, the Mission and Citizen Public House, as well as a handful of other spots to check out.
Livability even gives a shout-out to FnB’s daily desserts.
To compile the list, Livability editors analyzed data about how frequently families eat at locally owned restaurants and how much the average resident spends eating out.
They also used data to examine the accessibility residents have to healthy foods like fruits, vegetables and quality meat.
Also taken into account were cities with established farmers markets and restaurants that use locally grown ingredients, as well as critically acclaimed restaurants, successful chefs and James Beard Foundation Award winners.
“There’s a real foodie renaissance going on in U.S. cities,” said Livability.com editor Matt Carmichael. “You’re seeing that coast to coast, but these cities really stand out as great places to live and eat.”
While Scottsdale’s culinary prowess is mouthwateringly known, the East Valley city was bested by New Haven, Connecticut on Livability’s list.
