Though it once boasted a population of more than 5,000 people, it now sits abandoned. Located in Tucson, this mountain range offers some diverse terrain and plenty to see and do. During winter months, you’ll find snow here. Spend a day skiing at Mt. Lemmon. In the summer, hike to alpine lakes or the water falls at Seven Falls. You’ll find lots of wildlife year-round, along with some beautiful, star-filled night skies.

- Camp In The Aravaipa Canyon Wilderness

Just a few hours from Tucson, you’ll find the most incredible canyon. It’s 11 miles long and so picturesque that you might never want to leave once you arrive. The Bureau of Land Management only allows 50 people in the canyon at a time (for a maximum of three days), so you’ll enjoy some real peace and quiet here.

- Hike The Peavine National Recreation Trail – An Abandoned Rail Trail

This six-mile long trail follows the path of the old Santa Fe, Prescott, and Phoenix Railway. Most of the trail is quite easy; it meanders through some beautiful riparian terrain filled with cottonwoods and willows. As the hike becomes a bit more difficult, you’ll visit Watson Lake and witness some beautiful views.
